RunMDB is a tool which makes light work of creating an executable application (EXE file) based on Microsoft Access database (Version 97 i.e. 8.0 and later).

To sort out all the various parameters required in the command line to set up an association is often a nerve-wracking experience, especially for beginners. Now you just drag the EXE file that's been created with RunMDB onto your desktop and the association is made - a huge advantage when databases have to be distributed to third parties. The end user experiences the database as a "real" program.

Word of warning
RunMDB merely runs the database using the parameters you have configured. It does not substitute Access itself. Your PC must have either the runtime version of Access or the full system installed on it!

The executable file is created and maintained using the RunMDB Configurator Module. This module is included in the package.

The following parameters are supported:

• Database: full or relative path,
• get path from registry Access EXE file: full or relative path or get path from common or user-defined registry item
• System database (*.mdw): full or relative path, get path from registry
• User name and password
• User profile
• Start-up graphic with configurable delay (registered versions only): full or relative path, Get path from registry
• Additional features include exclusive mode, runtime mode and start-up log

RunMDB is free-of-charge to private users. The shareware code of practice applies in the event of commercial usage: A 30-day trial period is free. Ongoing use must be registered and a licence purchased. Implementation of RunMDB with an Access application rollout requires purchase of a distribution licence in addition to the basic licence.
